How critical is Step 2 CK score for match?
Most critical scored USMLE since Step 1 went pass/fail. Competitive specialties (derm, plastics, neurosurgery, ortho, rad-onc) commonly require 250+. Family medicine and IM have wider ranges.
What does it take to pass Step 2 CK, and how is the day structured?
The minimum passing score is 218 on the 3-digit scale for exams from July 1, 2025, which USMLE describes as roughly 60% of items answered correctly. Since May 7, 2026 the form runs about 316 single-best-answer items in sixteen 30-minute blocks of 18–20, inside one 9-hour session with a 55-minute minimum break allotment and a 5-minute optional tutorial.
Which Step 2 CK item formats does a QBank not fully rehearse?
Sequential item sets (one scenario followed by 2–3 questions that lock once answered), scientific-abstract sets, and items with audio or video findings such as heart sounds.
