Side-by-side feature lists make these two look interchangeable. These are the places where the programs genuinely diverge in how you would use them week to week.
Difference 1
What each planner does the week you fall behind
This is the one dimension where the two vendors describe genuinely different machines, and you can check it on their own pages in under a minute. UWorld’s Dynamic Study Planner takes your start date, target exam date and available hours per weekday, and UWorld states that when you miss a day it adjusts and redistributes the remaining work for you. Becker’s planner takes the same kind of inputs — exam date, start date, daily study hours, recurring days off and vacation ranges — and produces a dated set of daily tasks, but Becker describes the recovery path as recalibrating your schedule in a few clicks. That is a user-initiated re-cut, not an automatic one.
Why it matters: Nobody keeps to a CPA schedule perfectly. The question is what the tool does on the Monday after a bad week: hand you back a corrected plan, or wait for you to go and ask for one.
Difference 2
Choosing a Discipline section is a commitment at one vendor and a purchase at the other
Under CPA Evolution every candidate picks one Discipline — BAR, ISC or TCP — alongside the three Core sections. Becker’s published discipline policy gives single-discipline buyers a 30-day trial of all three so you can sample before committing; after that window, switching means buying the additional discipline, discounted through their sales team. UWorld sells one discipline on its mid tiers and includes all six sections on its top tier, so the same flexibility is bought up front rather than exercised later.
Why it matters: Candidates change discipline more often than they expect — usually after their first real look at BAR. Knowing whether that costs you a phone call or a purchase belongs in the decision, not in a surprise three months in.
Difference 3
Becker builds video around the simulations; UWorld builds benchmarking around your scores
Becker ships two distinct video products beyond the lectures: SkillBuilder videos, which are surfaced after you complete the correlating task-based simulation, and ExamSolver, step-by-step walkthroughs of the questions in their mini and simulated exams. UWorld’s equivalent investment is SmartPath Predictive Technology, which frames your performance against the performance of candidates who went on to pass. One vendor is answering "how do I do this simulation"; the other is answering "am I where a passing candidate was at this point".
Why it matters: If TBSs are your weak spot, worked video walkthroughs are a different kind of help from a percentile band — and vice versa if your problem is not knowing whether you are ready.
Difference 4
Access length is a tier decision at Becker, not a brand promise
Becker’s upper tiers carry unlimited access, while its entry Advantage tier is a fixed 24-month window. That distinction gets flattened in a lot of comparison content into a single "Becker gives you access until you pass" line, which is only true for some of what Becker sells. On the UWorld side, the "until you pass" entitlements that migrating Wiley customers already held were honoured on the new platform.
Why it matters: If you are planning around a retake, or spreading four sections across a slow year, the tier you buy matters more than the brand you buy.
