AWS SAA-C03 prep

Best AWS Solutions Architect Associate Study Plans in 2026

Updated August 2026

Five ways to prepare for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate exam (SAA-C03), with prices and what each is actually for. Most of this field sells courses and practice exams; almost none of it tells you what to do on Tuesday. The exam is 65 questions in 130 minutes, scored 100–1,000 with a 720 pass mark.

Why SAA candidates end up planning it themselves

  • The official AWS documents are free, and everyone tells you to "read the whitepapers" without saying in what order
  • Courses are sequenced by the instructor, not by your remaining weeks
  • Practice-exam sets tell you your score, not what to study tomorrow
  • Most candidates are working full-time and have evenings, not study days
  • The cert expires in three years, so the same scheduling problem returns

How to compare them

  1. Does it teach the material, test it, or schedule it? Most tools do exactly one
  2. How close the practice questions sit to real SAA-C03 scenario wording
  3. Hands-on depth versus time to exam
  4. Total cost, including whether you need a course and a practice bank
  5. Whether it can sequence the free official AWS documents you already downloaded

The list

Disclosure: exclam.ai runs this site. The other entries are real options we genuinely recommend depending on the use case.

1. exclam.ai

Our pick if you have an exam date
Best for: AI study notes from official AWS readings, plus plans for your materials
Pricing: Free tier, then $8/week or $30/month

The public SAA starter contains five AI study notes and five related checks. Each note links to its official AWS source. Try tasks 1–5 without an account, then save your progress and continue with tasks 6–10. For a personalized plan, upload the exam guide, AWS documents, or your course notes. The planner schedules those materials around your exam date. The starter checks are introductions, not exam simulations.

2. Tutorials Dojo

Visit
Best for: The practice exams most candidates use before test day
Pricing: ~$15–$30 per practice-exam course

The reference practice-exam set for AWS associate certifications, with explanations that teach as much as the questions test, plus free cheat sheets. It assumes you already learned the content somewhere else — it is a measuring instrument, not a course.

3. Adrian Cantrill

Visit
Best for: Deep hands-on learning for people who want to keep the knowledge
Pricing: $40 for the SAA-C03 course

The most thorough SAA course available, with extensive hands-on labs and genuine architectural depth. Roughly 60+ hours of material: excellent if you have the runway, and too slow if your exam is in three weeks.

4. Udemy courses (Stéphane Maarek and others)

Visit
Best for: A fast, cheap, well-paced video pass over the whole syllabus
Pricing: ~$10–$20 on sale

Maarek's SAA course is the highest-volume seller in this space and is regularly updated for SAA-C03. Faster and shallower than Cantrill by design. List prices are high but Udemy discounts almost continuously; never pay full price.

5. Whizlabs

Visit
Best for: Budget practice sets plus hands-on labs in one subscription
Pricing: ~$15–$30 per practice set

A long-running alternative to Tutorials Dojo with practice tests, video courses, and sandbox labs. Question quality is more variable than Tutorials Dojo, which is why it is usually the second bank rather than the first.

Questions

What is the best AWS SAA-C03 study plan?

The combination most candidates converge on is one video course for coverage, one practice-exam bank for measurement, and a schedule that dates the work. Cantrill at $40 or a Udemy course for coverage, Tutorials Dojo for practice, and a dated plan over both. Which course you pick matters less than whether the reading is actually scheduled.

Can I pass SAA-C03 using only free AWS documentation?

Yes, and many people do. The exam guide, the Well-Architected pillar papers, and the key whitepapers are free and cover the syllabus. What free documentation does not give you is an order, a daily pace, or practice questions — which is what the paid options on this page sell.

How long does SAA-C03 preparation take?

Six to twelve weeks is typical for someone working full-time with some AWS exposure, and longer from a standing start. Cantrill's course alone is 60+ hours of video, so a three-week runway rules it out regardless of quality.

Tutorials Dojo or Whizlabs?

Tutorials Dojo first. The explanations are stronger and the question wording sits closer to the real exam. Whizlabs is a reasonable second bank if you have exhausted Tutorials Dojo and want more volume.

What does exclam.ai add on top of a course?

The public SAA starter provides AI study notes based on official AWS readings and related comprehension checks. Each note links to its source. A separate personalized plan schedules your uploaded materials and generated quizzes around your exam date. These introductory checks do not replace an exam practice bank.
