CPA TCP (Tax Compliance and Planning) is the tax-focused Discipline section. Best for candidates pursuing tax careers or who want deeper tax content than REG provides. Upload your study materials and exclam.ai builds a fully guided plan.
4 hours. 68 MCQs and 7 TBSs. Scored 50% MCQs / 50% TBSs. Passing score: 75.
The 3 areas tested on TCP, with approximate weights from the 2026 AICPA Blueprint. Each area is broken into groups, topics, and representative tasks in the full Blueprint PDF.
Complex individual tax compliance, personal financial planning strategies, and tax planning for life events.
Complex C corporation, S corporation, and partnership tax compliance including consolidated returns and international tax.
Tax-efficient entity structuring, business transaction planning, and property transaction tax strategies.
The AICPA Blueprint specifies what percentage of TCP tests each Bloom's skill level. Use this to calibrate how much pure memorization vs application vs analysis practice you need.
| Skill level | Weight |
|---|---|
| Remembering and Understanding | 5–15% |
| Application | 55–65% |
| Analysis | 25–35% |
Upload your TCP review notes and exclam.ai generates flashcards weighted by area percentages. Heavy areas get more cards; light areas get proportionally fewer.
If TCP is Application and Analysis heavy, quizzes generate accordingly — not just pure recall drills.
exclam.ai remembers what you know from FAR when you start AUD. Concepts that overlap (ratios, internal control) don't restart from zero.

REG is the Core tax section covering basics of individual and entity taxation. TCP is the Discipline deep-dive: complex compliance scenarios, multi-entity structuring, tax planning strategies, and estate/gift integration. Overlap is significant but TCP goes deeper.
If you plan a tax career (Big 4 tax practice, public accounting tax, boutique tax firm), TCP is the natural Discipline. You will use the content daily. If you plan to work in audit or industry finance, BAR or ISC may serve you better.
Roughly half. TCP assumes REG mastery and extends into planning strategies, complex compliance, and specialized topics. Expect ~50–60% new content that was not in REG.
Upload your review course notes and exclam.ai builds a fully guided plan aligned to the AICPA Blueprint.
